Thanks so much guys! I've been looking for information intermittently for years on my own with no success. So glad I came across this site and you folks.

I have uncovered several old daybooks, a discharge certificate and even a leave pass from Sept 1945. If any of these documents are of value to you or the forum, I'd be glad to share.

Thanks again!
Joe

The discharge certificate and the leave pass may give us more clues if you’d like to share.

Cheers

His leave pass indicates he was a member of the 7th Medium Regiment, RCA

The 7th Medium Regiment, RCA, consisting of the 12th, and 45th Batteries.

That pass is from Sept 45, so he could have ended up with 7 Med Regt after the period of the original pack markings we are looking at. 7 Med Regt was disbanded on 25 Sept 45, so they were winding up this unit at the time of his pass. It was not uncommon for men to bounce around units after VE day as units proceeded home, were disbanded, etc.

For reference, those serials were:
7 Med Regt - 238
12 Med Bty - 238B
45 Med Bty - 238D
So no apparent match with the markings.

We've got some clues, but you really need his records to get some firm information on units/dates, etc.

How would I get these records?
