Default Researching - Family name STUART

Hi there,

I've discovered that several of my Great Uncles were in WWI - they are:

Stanley Stuart
William Stuart
Albert Stuart and
John Stuart.

Also - my Grand Father - L. Cpl Chester Stuart served in WWII and was apparently wounded in action (in England).

If anyone has any information please contact me.

The Stuart Family was from Brantford, Ontario, Canada.

Many thanks,

Of course Stuart is a very common name, but you can look for WW1 documents for each individual using this link:

http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discove...es/search.aspx

If you have more info on each, date of birth etc, it would help narrow down the possibilities.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

Have you looked at the records here: http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discove...l-records.aspx. This is the first place to start, here you can find out the service number of your relatives if you don't already know, and the first unit to which they were posted. From here it is possible to find further information, including when they travelled oversea and where they fought during the war.

The records for Chester will be a little harder to locate, and you should start here: http://www.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/discove...roduction.aspx.

If you already have this information, posting what you have will help the members here to provide you with information or sources to find more.

Mark

Here's an example of why we need more info. I just looked for the first name, Stanley Stuart.......and their's 3 records available, so if we could have more info, date of birth, where they lived before joining, mother or fathers name, anything that can help narrow the search:

Name
Date Of Birth
Rank
Regimental Number
Reference

STUART, DAVID STANLEY
05/12/1898
507594
Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF), RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 9393 - 49

STUART, STANLEY
31/03/1897
270531
Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF), RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 9396 - 29

STUART, STANLEY
06/02/1880
512885
Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF), RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 9396 - 30
